Polio had long been evil for the children of India. However, sustained efforts of successive governments and the cooperation of UN organizations, as well as local non-governmental organizations, finally bore fruit and on February 11th, 2014, India officially celebrated its victory over polio with complete eradication of the disease from the country.
A grand event was held at Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi to highlight this momentous occasion and it was graced by the presence of distinguished people, the political and governmental fraternity including the President and the Prime Minister of India.
